Barbour is proud to elevate its offering with new sub-brand Barbour Beacon. The name for the brand comes from the Beacon lighthouse which stands proudly at the mouth of the River Tyne in the North East of England and has long been synonymous with Barbour, welcoming sailors and rivermen to South Shields since 1894. Back in 1908 when the first Barbour catalogue was produced by 2nd generation family member, Malcolm Barbour, he named his protective outerwear after the Beacon to represent the best in quality outdoor clothing, guaranteed to be weather resistant and fit for purpose.
